two more boats from the loft!
« on: March 25, 2012, 11:19:16 pm »

Two more boats from the loft, this boat thing has got me hooked i tell you.
A caldercraft model of ISIS plastic hull, this was discarded by a pal of mine who couldnt paint the waterline in so he binned it.
 its about 2ft long and think its about 1/48 scale unless anyone knows or has a caldercraft isis and can put me straight
I started to rebuild the superstructure as a freelance fireboat based on the london fire brigade fireboat alpha
http://www.lfbphotos.com/assetbank-lfb/action/viewAsset?id=776&index=1&total=50&view=viewSearchItem

I would like to continue the fire boat plan but need better pics of the original but other than those on the LFB site none seem to exist.
For you freelancers out there any ideas for an alternative?

The second hull came from a house i was working in, i was working in the loft and an old boy said it had been up there years, and that i could have it
Its a 1/12 scale 50ft pinnace as used on the old capital battle ships.
I dont want to build it as a pinnace and would like to buildit as a 1/24 model making it about a hundred foot.
Once again any freelancers that could give me a idea as to the type of vessel would have this shape hull.
I was thinking of perhaps a tug, if i put a round extension on the stern the same as the 1915 steam drifter build in the masterclass section, or would this make it too long for a tug?

I think it would look good plated as well, any thoughts

I think , but not sure, that the Isis was modelled at 1:24 scale, but was made on the same hull as  of the Cumbrae pilot cutter which was indeed built to 1:48 scale.....a bit confusing but I built an Isis years ago, and it was a nice little boat to sail

I believe that the "Isis" is 1/16th scale  :-).

The second hull is a bit narrow to make a convincing tug.

I actually know the guy who runs the preservation group so could get unrestricted access but I have three boats on the go atthe momnet, so not really an option at this time. Got a list of things to build as well {:-{
