Hello Howard,
My pal built one the same scale as the hobbystore plan and I built one to a reduced scale.
Both came out very well but we both found that if the hull planks/boards were cut exactly to the plan, then they didn't always fit. i.e. They were a bit small in places along the length. We both made adjustments by cutting the planks/boards an 1/8th "  bigger, both sides along the length and trimmed to size.
Otherwise it is a very good plan.  It may well be that the original plan has been compromised by regular copying - who knows!!
Can honestly say that it makes a very nice model. Take your time and it will turn out right. Good luck

Hello again Howard,
I forgot to say that building the model was at times tricky but in the main it was quite straightforward if you follow the instructions and take your time with the curving of the hull planks/boards and the gunwhale.
Cheers

Hello Howard,
I meant to just add 1/8th of an inch all round, along the full length of both sides of the plank and at the ends.
If you really want to save wood and the time to trim it, can I suggest that you get some tracing paper and trace each plank/board onto some stiff card and try each piece onto the hull formers in card before you transfer the shape to wood.  Card cuts easier than wood with a pair of scissors!!!!
I have done that with other clinker models and found it to be easier and much less wasteful of timber.
A good art shop will have stiff tracing paper (try and get it on a roll rather than folded sheets - no creases) and card up to A2 size. If you want it bigger try a printers.
I moved in the opposite direction to you. I lived in Ripon - 60 miles from the sea - until I went to sea in 1959, then when I was 34 I met a Shields Lass and I am still here 35 years later.
If you need any help or support with your model, send me a PM and I will let you have my phone number.
Cheers
John

Hi Howard,

I actually have a scanned copy of the plans you have ordered which you are welcome to.

The issue with enterprise is that she is nothing like a motor coble. There are grp hulls available of the enterprise boat from orion mouldings which in my opinion are poor. Its simply a scaled up version of the small boat. The enterprise does however make into a nice model, assuming your into sailing cobles.

Motor cobles have a prop tunnel to allow beaching and the northumbrians without, have a stainless steel frame bolted on underneath to protect the prop.

I am actually currently working on creating plans for a 33ft Whitby Coble and my progress can be found here - http://www.danwalker.co.uk/Scratch_Coble_html/scratchcoblepart2.html

I am currently re-notching the ribs and starting the planking fresh whilst amending the drawings. I am using birch ply throughout my build.

Looking forward to seeing your build

Dan
