Is everything free to turn? Your boiler may show ok pressure. But is full pressure getting to the Engine? Is the steam Valve working Correctly. Has any debri come out of the boiler and is blocking pipework on in engine? all this should be considered.Good luck John.

Hi Rob,

It might be worth checking the o-ring seals on the pistons after being stood for 13 years.

Check that the propeller shaft is turning free. I had one model that would run fin all summer but when the temperature dropped in the fall the grease in the prop shaft would turn to concrete and slow things down.

May also be worth checking your pressure and water gauges are working correctly too...

I would go with Gerald , remove the coupling and see how it runs, also you can get a full set of O rings very cheap Of Jerry at Clevedon Steam http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Clevedon-Steam. he is ex Cheddar engine builder

Locktite comes in various grades , Nutlock, Studlock Bearing fit etc. Im not totally sure of its heat range .This infro may be on the bottle or useage leaflet or their website. Beware that the stronger grades are not meant to be undone easily. John.

Is the hole in the crank disk drilled truly square? Same applies to hole on con rod ends and stroke of piston assemblies. If the rods are trying to run at an angle to the valve faces, the pin is being loaded obliquely and will stress the glue joint by trying to make the pin wobble.

Despite being so simple in operation, Oscillators need precision construction.
