Manned Titanic model resurfaces.

Manned "Titanic" model built by Pat and Cecil Gates  in the 1970s as part of their "Frendship Fleet" has turned -up in New Orleans USA. Current owner has just completed a refurb and has been seen test sailing on nearby water.  Photo from local paper shows new owner Mark Koch.

It is powered Derek, just doesn't have scale shafts and props. There is a (typical Yank) big outboard in there somewhere. My 31ft Invincible does OK with a 5 hp outboard. What have you got in yours? %)

i`m surprised it is not powered by a 5.7 small block chevy !

Big blocks went bigger than that. 454cu in was a standard engine size (about 7.5 litres) whilst some fleet buyers were offered 502cu in (about 8.25 litres) and eventually Chevrolet offered an aftermarket engine of 572cu ins (9.4 litres). Aftermarket suppliers went bigger still.

These were beautifully simple engines that could produce 600bhp without really trying too hard and the like of which we will never sadly see again.

Arrow5 - Is your carrier the one that was stationed outside the Great Yarmouth model show a few years ago? I can't believe that there are two! Do you get to use it?

Yes that is it, enjoyed Great Yarmouth shows and a sail up river to the mustard town, Norwich, where a r/c heli landed on deck for the TV cameras. Then a day on the broads again for another TV news crew.  Next time out is to the Falkirk Wheel 10th anniversary and a sail on the canals.
