Water Pickups
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:47:11 am »

whats the best water pickup method?

I need to install a water cooling pickup on my huntsman and I cant decide on what sort to go for

I have the option of one of these

or one of these

which one would be best suited for a huntsman?
Alternatively I was thinking of a recessed brass pickup like this one

Opinions please?

2nd or 3rd options, 3rd preferably.
option 1 generate a lot of drag.

I have some spare brass tubing so I think I could go for twin pickups either side of the propshaft (seperate cooling for motor and esc)

Next question where abouts should they be? just ahead of the prop?

I put mine after the prop, in-between the prop & the rudder, so the prop forces the water through the tube.
Works great.

Hi Gary.

Get the Graupner ones, the 15mm if you can.

They suck the water out, almost like power assistance, only when the boat is moving of course.

But they do work the same either ahead or astern.

Mike.
