I picked these up at a military vehicle show a few weeks back. They/it is designed for transporting shells for a Carl Gustaf Recoilless Rifle, and cost a tenner. Question, would it or they be suitable as a WTC? There is a tapered O-Ring at one end with a quarter turn screw thread. I assume they are designed to keep the shell dry, would they work at a depth of 1 to 2 metres as a WTC? If so, they would look more than a little cool in a 7' Alpha Class Sub

Should be good down to well beyond 2metres- construction looks very sturdy.

A craycraft module used as a comparison I see. Is that out of a seehund?

I think it came out of the XE Craft from OTW. It has no home at present and was part of a deal with a mate of mine. Must find a use for it!

They were nice modules. A weakness of the system was that the air bubble compressed as the boat dived deeper, and the trim went out of whack. Okay if you don't go too deep, but I found my Seehund was impossible to keep in trim with that system in a swimming pool. A Kingston valve on the bottom would solve the problem, but these days most people use waterpumps with a check valve (including OTW), which sidesteps the problem.

So its a 'collectable' then?! Interesting point regarding the compression of the air bubble. Our local lake rarely exceeds 1 metre in depth, and being salt water I am unlikely to be spending much time sitting on the bottom. The only problem is if I take a model from its usual salt water environment to one of the many fresh water ( and deeper ) venues around the country, my trim will be out of whack.
The Carl Gustaf ammo crates passed their waterproofing test following four hours at the bottom of our local lake yesterday. So they may have a use in the future.

Collectable? Dunno about that. The compresser is a nice little item, but these days you can get the little disphragm compresser for a tenner, they're small, relatively quiet, don't need oiling etc. They won't make the pressure a piston model will, but then this system only runs to about 6-7psi anyway, well within the limits of a diaphragm compressor.
