Having been away from this hobby for some years and only just returned, I was saddened to read in this months model boats mag that the great Paul Beckley of Sirmar fame had passed away, I met this great person back in 1990 when I arranged with him to go up to Stourbridge to collect my HMS Glamorgan hull and fittings, he met me personally at stourbridge junction station in his old pale blue sierra estate and took me to his works above an old shop in stourbridge, his wife and daughter were there and straight away I was offered a cuppa and biscuits and made to feel most welcome by all there, paul continued to show me around his works, enlightening me on the process of resin casting and whitemetal casting techniques, future plans he had up his sleeve (I was sworn to secrecy) and a host of hints and tips on completing certain areas of the superstructure on the Glamorgan, all in all a most enjoyable day!!.......he's a man who will be much missed.
Could anyone tell me about his untimely death, i.e how old he was, when he died and what of, just to settle my mind, many thanks Dave J
