Newbie joining....
« on: August 09, 2012, 10:40:27 am »

Apologies for the seemingly repeat post from the 'Chit Chat' section.

I'm Bruce and building boats to this sort of scale is new to me, actually building any sort of boat is a new thing. I'm much used to building bigger things with routers and table saws as you can see in the photos below.

This has come about as there is a local model engineering society here in Dunedin. See http://www.omes.org.nz/

My little boy likes to go and watch the trains as they have a very extensive HO and N scales railways, plus he likes to go and ride on the scale engines. I needed something to do and as they have a boat pond, and being an ex RNZN officer (a long time ago) the idea of building boats appealed the most.

And then fate took a turn and the local bookstore had the first issue of the Hood on sale. Couldn't help myself. We are a bit behind the UK in delivery as only received Issue 11 last week. Haven't started building yet and plan to do a couple of beginner grade kits to get some experience.

I'm looking forward to contributing some photos and experiences and learning what i can.

Kind wish,

Bruce

Hi Bruce and welcome to Mayhem.

A model boat you can ride in would be right up your street.   :}

Cheers

Possibly a bathtub tug? This means using a glassfibre bath to make a tug. John.
