Hi from Northumberland
« on: November 17, 2011, 10:41:39 am »

Hey, I'm from a bit north of Newcastle-upon-tyne called Ashington, I'm 21, and I'm mostly interested in Model Boats (WWII Warships, specifically) although I do own an electric-boosted glider, and a couple of old (Built by my late grandfather) sailing yachts.

I'm about to start work on a 1/35th scale Schnelboot (E-boat) used during WW2 by the DKM, but I am planning on building a 1/96th scale HMS Northumbria (the planned county-class cruiser from WWII).

So, HI!

I'm also on www.rcnavalcombat.com as Daemon, for those that have heard of it.

Hi Daemon and welcome to the forum.

I have been a forum member for a couple of years now and have found everyone really helpfull. I am sure you will find the same, don't worry about asking for help / advise even if you think it's a silly question, we have all asked something at some point and you will find that there is no shortage of answers.

Nice to see you have a couple of builds in the pipeline and I look forward to seeing the build of HMS Northumbria, as my home town is just down the road in Cramlington.

Myself the current build is a 1:32 scale Chant started 3 days ago.

Again welcome and hope you find the forum as great as I have.

Heheh, its nice to see there are people so close, the only clubs I can find in "northumberland" seem to be tyneside/shields area, unfortunately.

Yeah, that was the main reason I chose it as my second solo build, as I was looking for a Royal Navy Ship to start of my 1/96th fleet. Im still debating on whether or not to build to Big-gun or Treaty rules (found at www.rcnavalcombat.com )but there are fery few differences between the two, fortunately.

Welcome to the forum Daemon I'm just a few miles north of you and quite often sail mine on the Coquet at Warkworth
just down behind the church is a lovely spot along the river - I'm also only interested in warships at 1/96 scale.

Ahah, yeah, I know where you're on about - I used to live in Amble, and my grandfather used to sail his yacht there (he might still, other grandfather than the one mentioned previously)

Hi Daemon
I'm fairly new in models as well.
If you want a good club try Paddy Freemans ( opposite freeman hospital)
It's not too far for you - I live out "in the sticks " at Swarland (near Alnwick ) so it's a good hike.
Club open Wednesday; Saturday & Sunday. Great bunch, loads of help if required.
