margate lifeboat was slipway launched from the old iron pier which was desroyed by gales about forty years a go.i have abook about said station with alot of info and pictures when i can find it you are more than welcome to any info i have  paul

north foreland watson class was the last slipway launch at margate in early1978 the crew being lowered by helicopter due to damage to pier and boathouse in gales on11 jan 1978. silver jubilee   rother class being carriage launched from new boathouse which stands nearly  by the old pier enterance

looking at margate beach on google earth it seems that the image shows a lifeboat at the waters edge within the sweep of the harbour arm (well it is orange and appears to be hauled by a tracked vehicle). the lifeboat station is situated at top right of the picture.

That's their Mersey on recovery. The Rother used the same house and launched off the same beach.

There seems to be a lot of interest in Margate Lifeboat on this forum. I'm new to this forum but if you have any questions regarding the current lifeboat or the history of Margate Lifeboat and Station then please do ask me.......as I am a current crewman on the Margate Lifeboat.
