Advise on Bowden cable

Hi there all, I am building a thames barge, 1/32 scale, am wanting to use bowden cable for the rudder linkage to my servo. This will need to be run on both sides of the stern post.
 I have a question to ask, if using the 3mm cable available from Cornwall model boats, what is the curvature restrictions? I plan to run approx. 19cm of cable each side, the majority of which will be under the deck from inside the main hold and will bend it over the last 2cm up through the deck, then to the rudder post another 2cm. Effectivly creating a elongated "S", am I expecting too much or am I thinking along the wrong lines?

Personally I cant see a problem with what you are doing especially if there is not a kink in the cable.

The more bends you have, the greater the friction. Is it not possible to follow the full size routing? 3mm may be a bit chunky, have you looked at Fishing tracer?

If you intend to connect both sides of the tiller to the servo then you don't need Bowden cable at all. Like Circlip says, you can use fishing trace ('cos one side is always pulling).

Fishing trace is the way to go.

Pike trace should be enough abt 70/100 lbs B.S.

If you need physically larger dia. for scale effect, then you can go with the heavier Shark trace.

Both are far more flexible than Bowden cable.

Make sure that you get the symmetry correct for the control arms to keep the tension even on both cables.

3mm Bowden cable is far to heavy.

Thank you all to those who have already responded.I am going to try and post a photo on the hull as at present have never done this before but we all go through learning curves don't we.

Think a fully closed loop without the servo Ned. Providing the loop is kept in tension, you can make a single point connection to one leg of the servo anywhere on the loop.

Hi there again, have just tried to print a photograph to enable me to draw on it and show my intentions.

The ink has run out....Blah!!
Didn't knowhow to upload pic.
If the image can be seen, then note the shaded area on the deck skin which is where i want to bring the cable up through.
Won't go any further as I might not bewasting everyone's time

Aha! I was thinking of a push pull type system with two wire traces linked to either side of rudder bar and servo.

Hi, as my previous attempt at putting a pic worked, thought I'd add one more . This one shows the rather crude work under the skin, the cable would run either side of the balsa strip in the centre

Have been trying to find a photo already on here that shows theliks connected to the rudder, Ican't butit relatd to a Will Everard model.

Snake outers should be fully supported and any bends in the routing will introduce slop, this is why in toy Aeros closed loop is the preffered system.
