Turret Motors... a useful tip... maybe?
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:23:30 am »

Hi... I just thought I would post this idea as it might be useful to someone... My son had one of those robotic arms that they sell in Maplins... you construct it from the kit and it can be controlled via a series of switches, to pick things up etc. Well anyway, it got neglected and inevitably broken once he had lost interest in it... so I harvested the motors from it. There are four motor units which are housed in plastic casings with screw fixings, wires and output shafts, and they are geared!  It occurred to me they would make ideal units to rotate turrets on a warship as they would screw beneath the deck very neatly. The kit is about £30.

Lee, thanks for that idea. :-))

Good of you to bother to put pen to paper (so to speak) and share the idea with us.

Cheers,

Yarpie.
