In my experience, the normal way many humans interact is pretty indistinguishable from a flame war.....   {:-{ <:( {:-{

Something to do with the species...

(or, of course, something to do with my interaction with them...   %) %) %) !!)

your message might have been from an over zealous moderator. maybe the big cheese (martin) might over rule it when you reach the magic 25. good luck whatever the outcome. and even if you dont post in the future, keep the site in mind. it really is a minefield of information.

hello hopeitfloats, if what you are saying about a jealous maderator then i find it totally wrong in the actions taken against me,as i was new to the site and know i did wrong now but to be told i will never be allowed to sell it? well thats not nice and could have been handled differently,i just hope when i reach the magic 25 it does get over ruled because i just want someone to own the ship and make it a fantastic model like it deserves to be.also thank you for the good luck in whatever the outcome and i know i will carry on posting on here because i am beginning to enjoy it on here now, i can believe it is a minefield of information and i find it brill how i managed to come across the site under the circumstances.its all good and thanks again hopeitfloats.take care

I think its just standard protocol to ban sales from the offending seller, Its nothing personal. The pm message should tell you who sent it, you can recap your private messages at the top left of the page under user info. Try and plea your case in pm but if i were you i would refrain from mentioning the subject in public forum from now on  ok2

14 post already.... but they do have to be "contributory posts"  ie. about model boating in some way.   :police:

I think tony is desperatly afreaid of saying that he has absolutely no experience of building model boats......so I'll say it for him, and meant in a good and honest, decent way....where we have all had to start somewhere over the years....and it is our duty to encourage him to post and to encourage him to actually begin to build a model........
I don't have the foggiest idea as to what model he was trying to sell, but may I suggest, that rather than sell it, with our help he might enjoy building it, and have something to show for his journey on Mayhem...............

there will be many that will help you tony in all aspects of the build..........and the only thing you need to do now......is ask where to begin. :-)) O0 O0 O0

he actually states in reply 18 that he cant contribute to modelling because hes never done it, weather that appplies to just boating or all fields of modelling i dont know.  And i agree with neil that it is our duty to encourage him to at least give it a go, From what i gather from reply 4 by ned that the boat is part built and comes from a magazine, so i can only presume its a hatchett model or what ever they're called. maybe those hatchett things are a little advanced for a beginner but theyre are plenty of other routes to take.

Sorry Bob,
I attributed the moderation to Martin as his was the next post. I saw it had been moderated as I had read the original post.
I didn't read to the bottom to see who edited it.
I was giving Neil the heads up on what had transpired as I thought.

Blackcat, we've had a fair bit of running round about your posts.

Tell you what, why don't you explain your problem/situation to us?  You have a boat you're thinking of selling? Tell us about it and why you're thinking of selling it. We can probably advise on where to sell it and the sort of price you might expect. If you're not sure if you can make it, we can help with that too.

Moderators, I assume you wouldn't have a problem with that...?

perhaps Blackcat will now see that we have finally got back to what we are trying to achieve on here, namely help and advice, and friendly banter.I have always stated I am not a very good modeller, but the help I have obtained on this forum has been so helpful,as to give me lots more confidence.
I hope Blackcat has not lost one of his nine lives, and that he will feel lucky he crossed our paths! Come on matey give it a go,after all what have you lost if you cock up your model, you can come back here again for more help

o wow i feel overwhelmed with all the support off members on here so thanks very much for that, to be honest and this is honest,i have never built a model in my life and the ship i have here looks like it is more for the expert so i have no chance and it looks like it should belong to someone who would get great pleasure out of building it and owning it. i don,t know if i am going to get into trouble for mentioning it again, but it is a deagostini hms victory model, the hull looks like it is almost finished, there are a huge amount of un opened magazines and some opened with like free parts attached to them.there are all the paints some hand made treasure chests i think thats what they are, loads of different sandpapers, the list just gos on and on. and i feel as though as musch as i would love to own it when finished i just can,t imagine me owning something like this with having 4 children i would be scared it would get damaged and now back to the children side of things i really need the money hence why i would rather sell it,also having a disabled wife and me being her carer takes a lot of my time and the children aswell and looking after the house,so time is not on my side really and someone with a bit of time on there hands should really own  the ship. back to 1 of the posts where it was mentioned that members on here could possibly give me a rough idea how much  this could possibly be worth would be fantastic and i have a rough idea in my head what it would have cost new as i have had a quick check and could,nt believe how much these models sell for. anyways thanks all for the support and i am made up. o by the way i like to talk a lot if not already noticed so i will shut up now.sorry for nagging,i sometimes have to check i am not a woman  %) %)

for all the posts encouraging me to have a go at this model, thanks very much and i appreciate your efforts, but like i have explained i just could,nt attempt this and i have had friends come to the house and suggested i have a go,but in my head and heart i just know i could,nt do it,its just not me and i would end up getting very angry, and at the moment its the last thing i want to do with the children and wife a round. so thanks all but i seriously believe someone who could finish the ship and enjoy doing it should really own it.

tut excuses  %) just do something simpler to start with. And the wife n kids well i have 4 kids and a missus doesnt stop me. You just have to compremise a bit with your time, ie when the kids go to bed go build some of your boat instead of watching corrie.

I'll throw a couple of comments into the ring to see if anyone disagrees...

There are a number of magazine-build boats out there. The total cost of all the magazines is quite a lot, so it gives an impression that the finished item is worth a lot. But I think that there are quite a few people 'falling-out' of these schemes, so quite a lot end up on the market, meaning that the price can be quite low.

Can you tell whether you have ALL the parts? Buyers will certainly want to know this, and the price will be better if you can assure them...

I don't do these kind of models, but the one you've got sound huge and impressive. I note that Mad_Mike has made the obvious suggestion - put it away until a later occasion several years hence. I think that most modellers have several projects 'in store' for when they can get round to them, and it could easily wait 10 or more years until you think you have the capability/room....

also mad mike,i understand what your saying about starting with something more simpler, and the matter of the fact is i do not have the time or the space as i stated in my first message, but no 1 really got to see it so can understand that no 1 knows? and the wife would think something was strangely wrong if i sat down to watch corrie  :o :o but thanks very much for the encouragement that has been shown by all and i know this is only natural for you all to do as you are into modelling and building boats and stuff, but its not me and i would rather be truthful rather than sit here knowing its not me and you all thinking i am going to start getting into it. sorry if i have just upset yet again a lot of members with that, but i just want to be honest.and i hope you all understand and don,t now get branded yet again as a bad person. everyone to there own i suppose,we all have different interests and this is just normal or the world would be 1 boring place if we was all into the same things.

and mike as for your question of what i am into, well i love my sport as in football, cycling, snooker and so on,but for the last couple of years i have really got into old retro bikes especially raleigh back in the 70,s/80,s bikes. i don,t know if a few members here remember the grifter, and bomber, and burners and the list go,s on all raleigh bikes, well i have a grifter here which looks new and i love it,and when i do get a spare bit of time and doing the family bits,i love messing with bikes.
