Esc programming problem
« on: June 11, 2013, 12:56:46 pm »

Hi. Can anyone advise if it is possible to use an Aquastar120 programming card with a Seaking brushless Esc? I tried using the transmitter to program the Esc but it doesnīt seem to log out of program mode. When I connect the batteries after programming, the Esc beeps 3 times confirming three cell lipo, plays a musical tune beeps and then the motor starts at full throttle with no transmitter control. If I connect the battery while holding the throttle control in and then release it after the beep it is fine. I understand by doing this I am calibrating the throttle. Any solutions/ideas or is it just a knackered Esc?
Thanks

If I understand correctly what you are saying is that you need to hold full reverse on the throttle before connecting the battery? before the esc will work properly?

Also you cannot use the programming card from one ESC with a different ESC

Thank you for your reply. Correct, if I donīt connect the battery without holding the throttle at full then the motor starts up by itself.

Is your ESC forward only?
Is your throttle stick on a spring or ratchet?
If you have to hold it on full reverse/bottom stick
I presume it is on a spring.
If the controller is forwards only, the stick being in the center i.e.
neutral,for forwards & reverse ESCs
when you switch on, the seaking ESC wont be able to read a signal
because it is looking for 0 throttle.(bottom stick) for forwards only ESCs
It will get confused and so it will go into failsafe mode. If the stick is on a ratchet
make sure it is fully down/reverse/bottom stick, before switching on
