RNLI Fundraising
« on: November 01, 2012, 08:11:04 pm »

Hi, does anyone know what happened to RYANb  and the fundraising trip he was doing back in August. He was sponsored to visit each of the RNLI Stations throughout the UK, but his postings seem to have stopped mid trip? I just wondered whether or not the huge effort was completed, and what the total raised was.I know a lot of Mayhemmers planned to meet up with him on route,so is there any news please,so we can offer our congratulations?
thanks,
Mick F

Looking at his user ID on the members list, it appears that he checked in yesterday around lunchtime (UK time).

I looked back over his posts and could see that he included a link to his fundraising which is at - http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RyanBlessingtonRNLI2012

The page is still active and show that the latest donation was received on 24/10/2012, and takes the running total to £760.00 (£852.50 with gift aid).

I'm not familiar with this story though, so could someone fill in some blanks please?
I can see from his posts on here and his fundraising page that he planned a tour of 100 RNLI stations in England during the first few days of August. I also understand that he was 'motoring' in some capacity as he had estimated the fuel cost, but I'm don't know if he was he using a standard vehicle or something unusual to raise awareness?
Also does anyone know how and where he had publicised the trip and/or how he was collecting donations? Was he doing some particular activity whilst at each Station or did he just have to get a 'docket' signed to say he'd visited?...

...and possibly the most important question of all, is he okay?

Now that's an ambiguous question :)
By okay do you mean well or honest ?

Not that I know the answer either way :/

thanks for the extra information, hopefully Ryan will see this and get back to us to explain it all.It seems a shame that he had been sponsored for over £500 at the start of his marathon, and that the total has only risen by some £200.As a keen fundraiser for the RNLI myself, with a number of like minded friends,it would be interesting to know how he accomplished it.

Oh b*gger! I never even thought of an alternate interpretation to my question. After rottweiler's initial observation that the chap had gone quiet, I was considering the possibility that he may not be in the best of health at the moment and wondered if anyone knew.

Also, sincere apologies to Ryan (and/or anyone who knows him) if my previous post has caused offence in any way, but can assure you that no ambiguety was intended.
