Anyone know what these ships are?
« on: November 18, 2012, 01:50:53 pm »

I have been sent these photos of  two card boats that were on a model railway layout and asked if I can help identify them.
Can anyone identify them for me to pass on to the railway club?
Thanks

It would help if the period the railway layout was representing was known.

It would help if the period the railway layout was representing was known.

Only if we assume (or have confirmed) that the layout is 100% period-accurate.

It would help if the scale of the railway layout was known and also the names of the vessels.
Also worth considering that the scale may not be spot on either, as it isn't uncommon to mix scale slightly on a layout to create a foreshortening effect.

I don't know the period of the layout but I do know it is OO guage, about 1/76 scale. I would the assume the ships would be 1/72 scale

Second one looks a bit like a representation of the St Helena to me.

The first vessel looks to be a converted ex WWII corvette. Many of these were bought following cessation of war and converted to suit the needs of the purchaser.

Just a thought. %)
