coloured resin
« on: October 10, 2012, 05:50:09 pm »

Hi, Gents, can anyone inform me how I colour resin IE as red, green, and yellow I have waterclear cast resin and wanted to colour it for nav, and mast lights. Wonderd if I could add food dye or tamiya clear acrylic paint that you would normaly brush on the outside or is there resin colouring you can buy or should I just make them all clear and add a coloured led.
                      Regards Howard.

It'll stain your skin for about a week and your clothes forever.  A very small amount goes a very long way so make sure you keep it on the newspaper.

Make them clear and add the requisite colour LED.
A lot less hassle and a lot less mess  8) 8) 8)

I used ordinary Humbrol paint so both your proposed colourants should work. Anyway, can't hurt to try it on a cap full of resin  before you spend out again.
