Scaling Up Plans

If I was to Scale up a plan, from 1/50-1/35. How much bigger do I need to scale up by?
Maths was never a strong point. I have come up with a couple of answers, All wrong....

Divide the bigger number by the lower or 50/35 which gives 1.428 (to 3 decimal places) depending on how accurate you want to be.

For what it's worth, a standard A4 to A3 enlargement on a photocopier (or A5 to A4, or A3 to A2 - it's the same ratio) is 1.414 (141.4%).

I took my last plan to the local photocopy shop, they just asked 'how big do you want the end size to be?'    :-))
