Cool things are coming together now, I had been wondering when I could afford a transmitter and Rx and a chap on my other forum offered one in our bargain section for the price of postage, so I now have a Futaba Attack 2DR with two additional servos on its way to me - All I need now is to sort out a battery pack for the boat.

JST connectors arrived today and I now have the electrics wired up. The boat goes fairly well, not super speed but quickish - I will try video it tomorrow, was a bit dark tonight when I ran trials in the pond. Only problem I have is the motor will not stay connected to the shaft, it keeps on shedding the wire sheathing I am using, i think it may be a little hard after being in the garage for a few years so will have to find some newer wire and try that sheathing - Otherwise I will need to look at another way of connecting them.

The servo and motor were also running backwards but after reversing the switches on the Tx all is well, the servo does not turn the rudder much, I will video this as well tomorrow. Overall I am chuffed with it   :}

How much space do you have between the motor and the end of the propshaft tube? If you have more than 40mm you can fit in this coupling:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MODEL-BOAT-COUPLING-MICROFLEX-TO-SUIT-SMALL-MODEL-BOATS-NEW-FROM-MODELBOATBITS-/190578745359?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&var=&hash=item2c5f60e00f

If the inner propshaft is a bit too long it can allways be shortened with a hacksaw.

I personally would tr the rubber coupling again. remember one end of the coupling is slacker than the other because its a 2.3mm to 2mm coupling. The larger 2.3mm being on the motor side. If its continues to slip just use the smallest touh of ca glue on the inside of the coupling.

Hi All, ran the boat again today, its actually not all that fast but it will do - More importantly, it ran ok for a minute or two then when pressing forward on the stick the motor went into intermittent reverse and the servo jiggled, with more travel than it usually does, see video - Any thoughts as to what is going wrong please - The parts where the motor is revving OK is me running it in reverse.

lots of reasons could cause that. Interference from someone else using a radio control transmitter on the same frequency. Having no suppression caps on the motor, having the receiver wire in the wrong place, got a dodgy connection on your crystals. Personally i would scrap the old 27mhz stuff and go 2.4ghz. you wont have any of these problems, thats what i did when my stuff played up like that. well worth it in the long run

If you want to up the speed just add another cell or 2

I have added a suppressor pack to the motor and I am still getting the same problem - I guess I am going to have to look at a 2.5ghz Tx & Rx

I have decided that this boat is getting on my nerves, so I will finish it as a display model and channel my meagre funds into my Perkasa - I will obviously keep a hold on the bits n pieces for a future build.  :((  {:-{

Just cannot get it working nicely, so rather than throw money at it I will throw it at the Perkasa!!
