Only if you're not careful KK. I've been charging them for about 6 months now without any issues, they've got wet, been dropped, and are charged on the kitchen worktop next to the gas hob.... I've not gone bang yet, but you can buy fire proof bags for charging them in if you want. I think the problems occur when bad batteries are charged (when they have 'expanded') or if you overcharge them.

lipos are dangerous from what i have heard they have a reputation of blowing up from what i have read  :o

                                                          kk

They can be dangerous.  the same as a can of petrol can be dangerous.
As long as you are sensible with them they are fine.

I will admit tho... I don't allow the kids to charge lipos unsupervised

{:-{ {:-{ {:-{ . Hi Biker I hope I don't have to read any nasty things that has happened to you charging Lipo's. I would like to think you are going to have a very safe & happy Christmas & you are still on the right side of the grass come the New Year. Don't push your luck, always remember you only have to be wrong once when playing dangerous games, in the end it is never worth the risk & I do like your input on here & would miss it. Mick B.

in much the same way as biker , i now have 5 lipo packs  and a reasonable quality balence charger , the battery packs get charged on a bench which is next to a window , to date ive not had any issues in charging these packs . the only battery ive ever had the misfortune to witness explode was a 12 volt truck type wet acid one , which exploded as the charging crocodile clips were removed , thankfully the gent removing the clips wasnt harmed  , his boiler suit didnt survive the next wash , bits of battery case were found all over the workshop for days after !

Use LiFe batteries instead, roughly the same weight, about the same cost, slightly less voltage per cell but a lot safer in use and charging.

Lol thanks, but if Lipo's were really as dangerous as people here would have you believe, they wouldn't be readily available for sale. A car battery (lead acid) can catch fire if you're unlucky, but generally they're ok.

Obviously I'd advise KK to go careful, make sure the batteries haven't expanded, no obvious damage, before charging, don't leave on charge too long etc etc However my cheap charger has an auto cut off so overcharging isn't a problem. The power gains and space and weight saving far out weigh the 'dangers'

shop in porchester has a selection of brushless motors in stock , with varying prices , ive just bought a couple from them a 1050kv outrunner which was around £20 , and a 2600 kv for my waterjet which cost me £12 ,  you may need to also think of a heavier duty coupling than the red ones alan sells as they have trouble coping with the extra strains of brushless motors ( ive had two let go ) remember you will also need a different esc than for brushed motors too

Hi KK, HobbyKing have a huge selection of motors, and some of them are very very cheap! As for whats more powerful, I think I'm right in saying the KV = revolutions per volt, so the 800KV on 11.1V lipo will turn at 8800 RPM, whereas the 1400KV on 11.1V will give you 15,540 RPM. However there is more to it than that, ie torque, and I've only ever found 1 website that explained it well, but I was at work and can't remember where it was! If I find it again I'll email you the link.

Hi KK so nice to see you back - I thought maybe your mum had you working in a sweatshop so you could pay back all that cash you owed her.  {-)

Have a real blast at X'mass KK

what about his more expensive black couplings ?
