Hi all

Only a few days to go before the event and looking forward to seeing you all there.
We have over 150 exhibitors booked in plus 10 traders, which is a great response. We are still receiving enquiries so it may even get bigger.

We are looking for decent weather and fingers crossed so far it looks like it may be kind for us.

Travel safe and see you there.

I've been to Alfold today and what a great show it was. Lots of lovely models to see, lots of friendly people and even a few places to spend money. Went there thinking my next project would be a big lifeboat but now really tempted to build a big fishing boat!  :-)

A few pictures I took. I really liked the WH 365 fishing boat. It had fishing nets towed behind it, engine sounds and I'm sure I heard a horn too and some exhaust smoke. Very nicely built model.  :-)

Had a lovely day at Alford.
I saw Andy from Models by Design take a £20 note off Steamboatphil.
Could this be the £20 note ????????????
Or is it a fake?????????????????

Many thanks to all that attended Alfold Charity Model Boat Show this weekend, this includes visitors; exhibitors and traders. The show was another great success which raised a good deal of money for Charity. Although I was there running the show I did not have a camera with me (My name's not Martin) so please post more photographs from the show. Alan

Hello Everyone

May I take this opportunity to thank all the exhibitors, trade stands, helpers etc., etc., for all their support over the weekend. The weather was good to us and there was a steady flow of general public on both days. With over 150 exhibitors on site over the weekend I calculated there were almost 1,000 models on display, it was a wonderful collection and site.

I received an email late last night from one trader, which i would like to share with you as it really highlights what the show is all about.

Dear Trevor,

Having just got home at 23.00 hrs Sunday, I felt the immediate need to compliment you and your team on staging such a wonderful show at Alfold. At your show, on day one, I was just short of my personal daily target by £40.00 - but on the Sunday, I surpassed that and actually sold out at 14.30 hrs!

During the event I had a huge amount of support, and nothing was too much trouble - not only from the resident club (who also helped to fix my ailing lifeboat with eight other club members) but made me feel most welcome too.

I thought the sailing facility and the overall facilities were excellent, and I was most comfortable during my stay. Whilst I had to factor in travel and subsistence costs, these were easily compensated for, by your very reasonable traders rates. On this basis, I would be honoured to attend next year.

During this event, I did my best to support your club and event too. I bought two boats from the "bring-and-buy", gave generously to the Girl Guides and also bought a set of launching straps from your club in aid of charity. I believe in giving as much back as I can afford!

Special thanks must go to Chris Eager. We are in similar professions - and I am sure his regular plugs on the PA for Model Sounds Limited has helped us sell though our products.

I was asked for a quote for MMI and have tried to encapsulate the above in a shorter tome!!!

Many thanks to you and all your crew for making this show the success it deserves to be and I hope you can afford me the same location next year as I had this year. Consider this email a confirmation of such an agreement.

Keep making the right noises!

 Mark Thatcher - Noisemaker-in-Chief - and MD
 Model Sounds Limited

Thanks Mark and all of you out there who support us  :-))

Looks and sounds like a very good show - 1000 models is quite a number!

Thanks for posting the photos - great to see them.

Anne and I would like to add our vote of thanks to Trevor, Alan and everyone who helped to make this year’s show so enjoyable (not forgetting the Girl Guides!).

Herewith a selection of pictures:

‘ello, ‘ello, Phil’s hidden the trophy!

Hello, what have we here? Someone in distress!

Let’s give a hand.

Problem solved!

Hopefully without torpedoes!

And a couple of videos - don’t forget to turn the sound up!

For those who want to look at all of them:

I would also like to extend my congratulations and thanks to all, another great show, and I can certainly vouch for the amount of models on show as Dave (Mr Brumstead to me) and my self were honored to be judges.....not and easy task....you may have seen us wandering around...and around....and...well you get the idea, there were some really fine models on display.

And of course Steamboat Apprentice might just have had her boat and trophy with her....

Well done all, and heres to next year  :-))

this exhibition is always the first weekend in June?
Here we can consider retaining this date in 2014, just after Wicksteed!
We will be the 1001/1002 ......... 1010 boat! :-))

Hi GAZOU

If Wickstead is on the Bank Holiday weekend as usual then I can confirm Alfold will be the following weekend, 31st May & 1st June 2014.

Look forward to welcoming you. Watch this forum for details on booking in the New Year.
