to know if ironing would work to get rid of the creases or would it stretch the plans.

Many Thanks Tony.

I put mine under the carpet for a few weeks and it takes out a lot of the creases. I also use this for rolled plans.
The only things I would be wary of are if the fold is creased and kinked, and if the iron will lift/affect the ink.

Butlers used to Iron newspapers for their bosses, in the days when ink readily came off onto fingers etc,so I would have though carefull ironing of plans would work? I would be tempted to place a protective piece of paper between the iron and the plan, and use a low heat setting.I would suggest trying a very small insignificant are of the plan first though!

just a lil heads up,  if..  you iron it, try a corner first cause if its has been printed using thermal process, then the heat of a iron can blacken or blanken the plans.
its not a widely spread print method as far as i know, but i heard of it being used before, to make plans degrade over time, so people cant sell em on that easy, or have to buy new set if they wait to long with using it. kind of a exparation date method.

If they were printed using a laser type process, or a photocopier (same principal) the ink will come off when heated. Put some clean paper between the plan and iron, or if ironing the wrong side, between the plan and the board.

If you are lucky, you may get an extra set :-))

Hi, Get them copied asap. I sent to Germany for U-Boat plans a few years back, built the vessel and tubed the plans. Got them out for reference a while later only to find blank sheets of paper.
Thats what you get with thermal imaging paper, like the till roll receipts you have to take back to the shop and there is nowt on the paper to prove anything. Nemesis

I've ironed a set that came with a book. I hold my hand up and say it was on the coolest setting but other than getting the curls out, the ink stayed where intended and creases remained. We did put a t-towel and later some some lining paper between just in case.

Protecting both sides and putting it under the carpet or matress is a good idea.
