Hi Gents, just a quicky from a thicky, How long should a two ball stanchion in 1:72scale be, as am making a small boat but the stanchions are way over scale thank you  for your help.

usual stanchion height (according to Nichols guide to seamanship) is between 32" and 36" high.......so I'll leave the mathematicians to work out scale length.
 
Mind you.......that's a statement in a book dating to 1954 printing.

1/2" or 12.7mm is 36" thats about 7/16" or 11.3mm for 32"

John Haynes does photo etch sets of the various 1/72 stanchions including 2 bar ones.

Howard I have never worked in 72nd scale, but John Haynes 96th scale assymetric 3 bar stanchions as used in
warships are 11mm long so at the larger scale you may want something a touch larger.

1/72 scale 2 & 3 bar stanchions are both 14.5 mm tall.
