I suppose the truth is that, on the water and at a distance , there isn't much to distinguish a museum quality model from a more practical high quality working model. The extra quality of the 'museum' model is best appreciated on the bench ashore.

Evening all, Circlip, with ref to your request for simpler models, here's a photo of my daughters (age 9) springer tug "Fairy Dust" built with a lot of help from Grandad and myself. Its very Girly with working AA powered LED lights from the best known pound shop in the land ! It also plays music.  :-)

Gary...I suspect in 20 years time, your daughter will still have her "Fairy Dust" springer tucked away somewhere....& every time she sees it will bring back fond memories  :-))  of her Grandad  O0 .......Derek

brilliant..........I love it............it is amazing just how much can be made from a simple hull, and I hope that she will always remember fondly building it.

thankfully both my daughters enjoy the models that I build and are both crafty in their own rights.

Precisely Gary, and without trying to demean the builders, anyone seeing that would think "I could do that" and enjoy "Playing" with the finished item. "Scratch build" at its finest.

I assume you mean the boat show and not the 2.15pm handicap.  :} :} :}

The Results will be posted up on the website ASAP , unfortunately the person who updates the website has very limited internet access at the moment and is unable to update the site, but should be back to normal soon.
I know Runcorn & District won the Best themed stand  :-))
