Fireboat Funday/Vintage Model Boat Day
« on: February 17, 2013, 02:02:08 pm »

Hi all
I have just heard that Pete Dimberline is stepping down from hosting the above event.  Can I first say that this is sad news as going to Burton for this event has been an annual pleasure.  I wish to thank Pete for all his hard work over the years and wish him well for the future.  If plans can be put in place King Lear Model Boat Club hope to keep this unique event alive.  I first need to contact our local authority to see if we can host this event on our lake and hope to let you know soon if we can and to give dates etc.  Some of you will know our waters as you attended a few years ago when we hosted this event when the lake at Burton had too much weed.
I hope you will continue to support this event which will still be based firstly around Fireboats and then other vintage model boats.  Watch this space for further information.
Regards,
Gray  :-))

Hi all
King Lear Model Boat Club would like to invite to the Fireboat funday/Vintage model boat day which will take place on the  8th September at King Lear Lake Watermead Country Park, Wanlip, Leicestershire. LE7 1PD.
We welcome you for an informal and friendly event where likeminded owners of model Fireboat /Vintage model boats can get together, so bring a boat and have a sail.

There are toilet facilities in the Country Park but no catering or café except for an ice cream van, so bringing your own lunch is recommended.

There are however two pubs within two miles of the Country Park where ‘pub grub’ is available.

Contact the club at [email protected] for any further information, further details about the club can be found on our website at  www.kinglearmodelboatclub.co.uk and further information can be found about Watermead County Park on their website at
www.leics.gov.uk/index/environment/countryside/countryparks/watermead.

There is a £2.50 entry fee to the country park so please have the exact change ready as this is paid to an unmanned machine which does not give change.
We have been asked if camping is available so we will check with the county council to see if it can be arranged.
We will post more info when the council let us now

Hi

Just to clarify that we will be holding this event on Sunday 8th September 2013.  All vintage model boats are welcome and we have had confirmation of boaters coming from Fleetwood, Chorley, Lincoln.  It would be nice to see the guys from Hull who attended when we hosted this event due to weed problems at Branston Water Park.  Phil you should start getting you Fireboat ready now.  If we have enough interest we will also have a BBQ and tea & coffee on the day!

I look forward to seeing you all there  O0

Regards,

Hey SteamboatPhil

Have you managed to drag out your Fireboat and give it a clean in time for the Funday yet?
