« on: February 17, 2013, 03:51:11 pm »

ok guys this one is doing my head in.
ive just bought a sett of plans that arrived on three pieces of paper, but in two scales.
the hull is in 1 : 25   and the rest is in  1 : 20
how do i go about changing  the 1:25 to 1:20 myself as the local print shop cant do it.

Ah !!!  You must have the lifeboat plans.   :}

I had that problem as well and my printers were able to enlarge them correctly. You may have to motor over to the mainland and try a bigger shop as it won't be easy to do it yourself. It does bump up the price before you can even start building. (I figured it was their way to slow down copying amongst friends)

just multiply all the dimensions you take off the 1/25th scale drawings by 1.25 to give you what it should be at 1/20th scale.

If you have the body plan (frames)  and the length (distance between) is all you need. Then make yourself a scale rule for the rest of the model. Colour red on the plan scale, turn rule over mark the model scale on this side in black. This will stop you getting mixed up. That is my method works for me. But then house plans are never full size.
