Time for a little heresy, perhaps!
This is truly remarkable modelmaking work.  The technique and attention to detail is extraordinary and if I had the time I'd love to try the technique.
However, beyond the sense of achievement an pride in the work, will he get anymore fun out of sailing her than "Joe Schmoe" and his trawler cobbled together from balsa and P38?
We all strive to do our best work especially if we are going to take the models out in public but it has to be fun!
Personally with a model of this quality I'd be frit to death of it sinking, being run down by some fast I/C race boat or savaged by a swan. Where's the fun in that!
Of course it may have been built to be static or for museum display, all well and good but if your'e not going to display the technique, what's the point.

(flame proof suit is on, so no worries)
