Hi Tony,

I must confess I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box regarding computers either...
At work I had to call the helpdesk to straighten things out for me, literally, as they work with a little download, which allows the helpdesk to take over your computer temporarily.
As these guys know exactly what to look for, the problem was solved within minutes.

If your computer keeps acting up, contact the helpdesk of your internet supplier for help, as longdistance diagnosing accross the Channel is somewhat troublesome...

Regards, Jan.

Tony,

Internet explorer is referred to as IE.

Am using version 8 as I also use Windows XP.

If you click on 'help' (on 'third' line down which also shows file, edit, view, favorites, tools, help ), then click on About internet explorer, it will tell you what version you are using.

Try and spell check on mayhem, and look at the very top of IE to see if a line appears across the top saying words to effect pop up blocked etc, if so right, click on that line of words an select allow.

You may lose the message, but if you do it again the spell checker should work and you can then post.

Hope this makes sense, I also am not too literate with PC's and maybe one of the resident Gurus on here can explain it  more simply.

As  a complete no no re computing and electronic thingies in general, I don't understand what has changed or I can do to get the checker to work as it used to especially as so many others don't have this problem. I haven't altered anything on my computer re pop ups etc and I am using Internet Explorer (which I assume you refer to as IE) so if anyone can help a doddo through this minefield HE would be very grateful, (so would I! {-) {-) )
                               Regards, Tony.

Tony,
This isn't an solves-all-ills answer, but in reference to the 'pop-up' thingy I mentioned earlier, you didn't have to touch anything on your own device for it to stop working.
It was something that occurred when the site was 'upgraded' last October/November time.
Consequently, it won't work again until you do actually 'touch something, and accept 'pop-ups'.

As I said, this isn't necessarily the fix for everyone, but it something that I had to do, and as can be seen from some of the replies, it appears to have sorted a few more as well.

Andy

p.s. IE is short for Internet Explorer (amongst other things)
