what are these items?

On a Tamar lifeboat there are two boxes about 6" below the port and starboard windscreen glasses. Are these lights or some other electrical equipment? The casing is built into cabin front and what appears to LEDs are fitted on them.

I could be wrong but I think they are speakers.  There are more similar boxes at the rear of the wheelhouse as well.
