Amazing - I wonder what glide angles they can achieve? - it
looks quite flat from the video but flying through the mountains
may give a misleading impression !

Amazing! I too wondered about the glide angle, at 5:00 it does look very steep....   :o

Wikipedia suggests 2.5 to 1, with a vertical descent of 25mph (and presumably a horizontal speed of ~60mph).

I wouldn't want to hit anything/the ground in one, that's for sure.

It has been tried before, of course - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clem_Sohn  but that was with 1930's technology.  He did at least have the good sense (?) to do it from a plane, with no big lumps of rock nearby.  Also mentioned by Derek Michael Bates in his story of the shower of stuff over Shropshire, where a gentleman appeared to have gained gossamer wings when the contents of the slurry pit descended upon him.

The Art of Flying

"There is an art, it is said, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
Pick a nice day, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy suggests], and try it."

I see military budget cuts everywhere, I see also British trials has started  And of course imported from Swiss. They are suposed to be the best. But for trials they couldn't send mountains. So they will be equiped with jets.
