Miniature Models & Antique Toy Collections
« on: March 07, 2013, 07:23:01 am »

Thought it would be interesting if we shared collections of miniature models & toys. Display space is at a premium in my home, and I know I'm not alone.

This is one case that displays a sampling of my miniature military collection. Even the wife likes this:

Nice collection there Rob, and if the missus likes it then you're on to a real winner.

My models are not nice, clean and ship-shape. They be mucky, grubby, rusty and smelly.

She didn't like it until I found the cabinet in an antique store, and then restored it and added lighting. Then suddenly, my "junk" became furniture!  {-)

There may be a clue there for the rest of us.

I have a friend who did something similar with his RC freighter and sailboats. He made very nice display cases for each one, and as a result, was able to move them out of his shop and into into other rooms in his home, thus making shelf space in his shop for even more boats! Brilliant!
