Naval display team smoke and flame techniques?
« on: March 22, 2013, 09:55:28 am »

 :o n Hi can anyone point me to topics that have discussed methods of creating the sorts of smoke and explosion techniques that would make displays really interesting.A We have an Armistice two day event here in November and we are looking for ways to enhance the RC model boat displays other than the normal sailing around.
thanks

It might be a good idea to let us know where in the world you are.  Different countries have different rules and laws regarding pyrotechnics in public places, also, some items and substances that are common in some places are utterly illegal elsewhere or just not available or go under a different name.

It's easy to put your location into your Profile.   :}

As Malcolm pointed out, the crux of the issue usually come down to regs for using pyrotechnics in public places.
If you search around this site, the topic has come up in the past. Last time about 4 years ago I think.

Some non-regulated options include.
Air-gun and talcum powder.
Even party poppers (inserts) and talcum powder. With a servo driven pull.

One other issue with pyro, is the potential for scortching, or hot soot etching into the paintwork of the model.
