Hi all,
I'm slowly returning to model boats after a 40yr gap flying 'planes.  At the moment I'm only mentally doodling how to scratch build a model based on an early Victorian paddle steamer.

Before I put pencil (or mouse) to paper I need to decide what scale.  Practicalities restrict me between 1/76th and 1/64th.  If I can avoid making fittings and crew figures by buying, that is probably what I will do. So the question is:-

In the UK is the best availability likely to be 1/64th, 1/72nd or 1/76th (OO gauge) or something else?

TIA

NNF

P.S.  It's at much too early a stage at this time but links to likely sources of fittings for a mid 19th century paddle steamer (with sails) would be welcomed and book marked. :-))

1/32, 1/35, 1/48, 1/72. All easily available. try e bay figures as that gives you some idea of what is around and at what price.

OK. Thanks for the input.  It looks like there is more out there than I thought.  I think I'll go for 1/64th.

Wouldn't dream of it.  The 'model' would be over 22ft long at the water line  %)
