V8 engine kit?
« on: April 07, 2013, 10:54:39 am »

I've googled myself insane trying to find a plastic kit of a V8 engine (preferably with a blower on it) at a decently large scale, say 1/8th or similar.

So, I turn to Mayhem for assistance...anyone help me out here, guys?

I have a number of the 1:6th scale V8's and they are lovely little models.

They are diecast though. The block and heads are made of die cast alloy and the rest are plastic components. They come pre-painted too so more of an assembly process than a proper kit I'd say.

The only plastic ones I have seen are the visible V8 that are made of clear plastic and have working components inside with a motor under the base. Revell did one with a turn handle in 1:4 scale and there is Dodge Hemi visible one with a motor and sound module under the base. Think that is 1:4 scale too.

Picture of my display cabinet below, two on the lower shelf have big blowers on the top. :)

HI all,and U-33,
I also wanted a v8 motor in 1/8 scale,
but although l could not find what l wanted l did have
all of the Monogram 1/8 scale car and hot rod kits.
So l decided to measure the engine sizes and make my own
version from plasticard, this is how far l have got to date.
The engine when finished is to go into a big version of the Mantis
which was a free plan 20 years ago.
Yours

E2V...those are some seriously awesome models. I fancy that dragster...a lot.

The "dragster" is actually a tractor pull ehicle. The trailer behind it has a very large weight that screws itself forward on the trailer thus putting more weight on the skids to slow down, and stop, the towing vehicle. The towing vehicle to travel the farthest is the winner.

We seem to have got lost a touch here chaps...

The picture I posted at the top of the post is a mini puller(tractor)...the yellow bodied vehicle on Conley's website is a top fuel dragster. Two totally different animals, the only similarity is the fact that both are designed to run in straight lines.

Many years ago I had a Revell / Monogram "Visible V8 Engine".  Is this the kit that the originals posts refered to?  (hopefully this Mayhem Attachment will work, otherwise I will have to import it via Photobucket)

Now we're talking the talk...that Allinson looks pretty good for what I want, and very reasonably priced too...two of those won't break the bank, and will look the part with some customising, adding exhausts, pipes, and various other bits and bobs.

Thanks Adross and everybody else for your kind assistance, much appreciated.
