Welcome Richard to the site, I know naff all about tall-ships, they look wonderful when made but, to me, they seem a tad daunting. Don't forget to upload some piccies as you progress as folk like to see piccies. Enjoy your time on the forum so great folk from all over the world.

Welcome about Richard.

Have a look at the Yacht and Sail page. There is a tall ship build in progress at the moment, an 18th Century English Frigate

Yes please do.
A helpful thing to do is to start a build thread (one for each model). Then as you go you can ask questions, if you get stuck, and people on here are very good at helping with answers. You will also get a lot of encouragement.
Uploading photos can be a bit daunting at first, but easy once you have done it a few times. There are also instructions how to upload photos here http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,23.0.html

There are lots of images here, some of them show rigging and no sails. You can get a clearer view.
It may help if your question is more specific.

If you mean the stays between the main mast and the mizzen mast, there appears to be two.
However, the exact config shows variations between the modern replica and a couple of the models.
The modern ship also shows triasic stays (from mast top to mast top), not all of the models have this.

Thanks Tiger, the model that i am building comes from my local newsagent and is the Hms barque "Endeavour" and the problem is on the plans and in the magazine they don't show where the foreward mizzen stay (lower stay) does tie to, it's a double stay one end does tie to the mainmast via a heart dead eye block but it doesn't show clearly where the other end ties to.
