Aerokits Sea Commander
« on: May 14, 2013, 01:08:08 pm »

Hi all
Well the sea commander kit arrived today looks to be an excellent kit can't wait to get started.
I will start a log and post pictures of my progress just off to read the instructions and make a tentative start on the hull.
I expect you will be hearing quite a lot from me in the very near future (asking for help and guidance)
regards to all Ian  :-) :-) :-)

Latest pics of sea commander build
I am thinking of painting the hull with ordinary spirit based paint (Dulux) or similar primer undercoat and gloss also I have some P38 which I want to use as a filler.
Any advice or comments would be most welcome.
Ian :-)

Re: Aerokits Sea Commander - paint an FILLER question

The paint should be fine, just prep' well and take your time. How are you thinking of applying it?

As for the filler, if you check out Stavros' paint thread, you should find the name of his recommended filler, which is apparently easier to sand than P-38 - Thus reducing the risk of accidentally sanding away the wood, which is a possibility when using a harder filler (i.e. P-38).

Bear in mind, the responses may be a bit slower today as several of the  lucky b****** are playing at Wicksteed.

Andy

p.s. I've modified the title of my reply in this thread so that it attracts the attention of the Wicksteed chaps and chappesses

In that case, use Polyfilla, a coat of Size and then Cross-line and Wallpaper it!  {-)
