Lifeboat Superstructure Painting
« on: June 10, 2013, 08:45:37 am »

Hi All,
Is there a thread somewhere that can help with painting the superstructure (orange), I have got to the point of removing all blemishes etc with halfords filler/primer and wondered whether to go over with primer white to null the orange look before putting the top coat orange down.
Thanks again.

I'm not an expert but I used Halfords white primer before spraying the top coats of VW brilliant orange and the results are excellent.

Rich,
If I remember rightly,I am sure in a previous thread somewhere, it said use grey primer rather than white.I cant think where it was though.

If you have some scrap or the same material as the superstructure then test both..... orange over grey and orange over white.  You can then compare the the two and decide what you think looks better.
Personally I would go for orange over white

Orange over gray gives a darker shade than orange over white.
I did my Trent orange over white as essex2 says its personal choice.
