Newbie and prop shafts
« on: June 01, 2013, 11:53:59 pm »

HI all
Bit about me, normally I build 1/6 tanks and also write books on AFV,but have also dabbled with grey funnel line, have 1/96 Hermes, Phoebe and Tiger.
It is Tiger the question is about, while I was away in sunnier climates where last thing needed was a model boat {-)  Tiger was in storage, sadly it seems as if a small crack in the storage roof allowed her to fill become wet inside.  As can be imagined this has not done the scratch built hull any, with resin and wood parting company, so reluctantly I am going to do a refit, using a fibre glass hull and the original superstructure.
None of this is a problem till I come to prop shafts, I made the original ones from steel rod and brass tube, no O rings or stuffing boxes but the seemed to work, I want to be a bit professional this time round, but having searched the net I can find no supplier of exposed prop shafts and A frames, so at long last that is the question, does anyone no a supplier?  Pheww

RP3 sods law having asked him if he did them and got no reply, looked at the site and found them, as I sent email you post appeared, question for you, is it a scale rudder and did you get 5 bladed props?
Another Lion is being built at Weston on Mud.  Maybe we should meet for a drink and discuss these ships..
