Kirklees Open Day Sunday 14 July
« on: June 23, 2013, 02:20:54 pm »

Hi just three weeks to our annual open day on Sunday 14 July. I can confirm we will have trade support with a list to follow prior to the event. The R.N.L.I will be with us selling various items and we hope to have visiting clubs as well. The day is a fun day you can just chat, sail your model or swap ideas with like minded people. Venue Wilton Park Batley see club web site for post code with a start time of 10 am until 3.30 pm.  Free parking within park area refreshments available and a large raffle draw. All cars in the park must drive at 5 mph and have flashers turned on. If your are not sure about anything please park up and find Stan for more information. If you wish to bring a qazebo please be on site early so a pitch can be found for you.  Sadly we cannot accommodate IC powered, or high performance fast electric models.  All steam models must have an up-to-date test certificate where applicable.   :-)) :-)) :-))

Hope to post a list of traders attending the above by the end of this week.  I am in the process of sorting out the raffle prizes for our Open Day.  There are in the region of 60 prizes.  Also on the day there will be a competition for best tug model.  More information to follow.   If you are attending this event I must stress that you take care on the road to the park as the speed camera is very sensitive.

Deans Marine will be attending the show with a full trade stand plus we will have on display the new models for 2013 already released plus  two new ones to be added to the range. A full range of model fittings and accessories, and a good number of new items.
If you require anything special, or have a look at any kit in particular give us a ring and we will load it on the van for you.
Some pics of the new models
 Regards

Hi Just a week to go to our open day. It seems to have gone so fast from the planning stage in January.
Trade support this year will be supplied by Deans Marine. Mobile Marine. Model Boat Bits. Scale Hobbies Skelmersdale. Scale Flags. Leeds Large Scale Models and Todmorden Model Supplies. This list is correct as of this evening. If anything changes and time allows I will submit further posts. If your are planning to attend please make sure when in the park you follow the park rules for vehicles - 5mph and hazard flashers on. Hope to see you on the day. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi Just checked the weather for Sunday. 22c and cloudy just right. No changes to trade support should be  a good day. More information on Naval Day  08/9/13 to follow in August.

Great news Chris will be on site. If you do not get the subs up and running you can still have them on display.

Was a great day, showed my models, met Circlip, very nice chap indeed. Spent a bomb, had interest in my sunken wrecks-even some guy wanting to buy them. However, I have had to cut the day short as I got a phone call informing me that my Dad has had another stroke while away at their caravan, he came around so Mum brought straight to my house so am at home, upstairs with the dog, while the ambulance people are with him. I also got in a state and have had a fall again...so have a rather bad back and ankle and wrist at the moment. I hope this post doesn't sound flip about the issue with my father it is just that I cannot do anything and would be in the way, so keeping the dog from barking while thy work, and stops me fretting...for a while anyway. Have taken some pictures so will post up later.

Stan if you read this I am sorry I didn't get to see you before I left, super day though, thank you.

Righto, my Dad has gone off to hospital with my Mum and Wife to make sure he is okay, he has come around a lot and they think he has had a mini-stroke again. Due to my fall it was decided I would stay at home with the dog instead of getting in the way.

So, while at home to occupy myself I have some piccies, these are early shots while folk are setting up.

I've been nurturing the impression of being a miserable old s*d for years Eddie and you screw it up in two minutes  >>:-( . It's good to be able to put a face to a name. Your models look just as bad in real life as in the photos, must try harder.

Sorry to hear about the family problems, a really bad end to what was a good day.

  Best wishes  Ian.
