Underwater stills camera at ALDI this Thursday
« on: June 23, 2008, 03:39:27 pm »

ALDI are selling a 6MP underwater camera, which they claim is waterproof to 30 metres (optomistic I think, but should be waterproof to most depths us submariners are willing to plunge to). Price is £89.99, not bad for a camera of this spec and waterproof.

I'm sorely tempted by one those Oregon Scientific video cameras to mount on a sub. Have to do it by the pool runs I reckon.

I have one of those. Not bad, the contrast control is a bit wayward.

You can have a go of mine before you buy your own, if you like.

Just picked up a Technika 5mp Camera with a water proof case , usb leads software etc from Tesco's for £29.97 as I wanted one so that I could take pictures and videoes on some of the swims I provide support for. Initial tests inside the house on every day objects were disappointing and so was not expecting much outdoors but was pleasantly surprised as some of the pictures were taken with high wind & rain while sitting in a kayak, staying upright and making sure we lost no swimmers on an 8 mile swim.  (swim should have been across Torbay and back)
