Ever had one of them days when you should never have attempted doing any work on your boat ,I have just spent most of the day trying to fit 2 working radar,s (as in rotational) to my Lloydsman tug using 3 plastic gears and a nice geared down motor i bought from the club swop meet, i didnt have any suitable piano wire so tried welding rod   big mistake not straight enough both radar shafts oscilating and looking rubish,had to cut out inner superstructure to fit motor bracket,caught funnel tops on bench and broke a chunk of balsa off them ,then drilled screw holes for mount fitted screws turned superstructure right way up and saw 4 screws sticking through upper deck walkway oops Will try again tomorrow on another part of the build and come back to this later and hopefully in a better frame of mind.

Yes never want to see tamiya masking tape again spent hours masking up deck to spray bulwarks, sprayed them left 1/2 hour peeled of making tape came of clear leaving all adhesive on deck. Used maplins stick label remover which spread it all over deck, now got to sand down the lot and start again. Either tamiya have changed the adhesive or someone is selling a copied version only problem is cannot remember where i purchased it ,think it was IPMS at Telford.

I had a day like that recently, I'd gone to pick up my Samson II model from my parents house, where It had been safely in storage while we moved house. During the time I was there I decided to re-solder some of the railings that had come loose over the years and fix a chip out of the funnel and do some other general bits.


Loaded her into the boot of the car, securely in her stand, packed a couple of blankets around the sides, checked there was no movement and set off.


3 miles down the road I had to brake sharply for a cyclist who decided to suddenly veer across the road, heard a large thump and crack. Stopped to survey the damage and it turned out the glue on the stand had given way and sent the model tumbling across the boot of the car.


All the railings had been bent, the mast come off and the funnel re-chipped in an entirely new place.


I still haven't worked up the heart to repair it yet, perhaps today!
