Hi,
I need some advice please?
Bought the P94 Esc and the p102 dist board. Fitted both of these to 2 x  6v Jumbo 540 motors.
The problem is that it is eratic at low speed. I sent the ESC back to the component shop and they said that the ESC was OK.
I have tried other motors and still get the same problem.
Can anyone help please really getting P***ed off with this ESC now?
The distribution board has a -5v voltage reg fitted and I have changed this thinking it could also be this.

sorry about that.
Unable to work out what is wrong.
This one I bought and I feel does not work properly and the one I built has a kit works perfectly with 2 Deceperms.
Just caanot understand why?

Hi all, here is my four penny's worth. I had one in my paddler but could not get it to behave with my spectrum 6. I think it doesn't like transmitters with built in mixing. I ended up doing a 2.4gig conversion of an old futaba f14. It now works fine.

Hi, I have that transmitter and my other one works in my lifeboat with 2 deceperms.
Going to connect the esc tonight to the deceperms and try this setup.

It doesn't if you have any mix programmed in. In point of fact the Dx6i is the radio used by Tim Fawcett (Wombat) in his Tamar. Tim designed P94.

Tonight I tried the problem ESC in my Lifeboat and found that it worked perfectly with 2 decaperms.
So now I need an alternative  for the jumbo 540.
Any ideas?

We need to know the type of model, size of props and voltage used (presumably 6v) before a reasonable answer can be given.
BTW I hope you changed the regulator for an identical one (LM2940CT). If you haven't used a low drop-out voltage type then a supply voltage of just 6v will not produce 5v from the P102.

The Model is a Graupner Wiesel,  there are 3 motors but at this time I will only
be using the esc for the outer ones.
Motors are Jumbo 540
Props are 40mm
The voltage is 7.2v nimh 3500mah
And the voltage regulator was like for like.
The motors are very lumpy at low revs but at med and full seem to get smoother.

The Jumbo 540, a blast from the past, my first motor in 1982, is a fairly ampy beast, I assume the 40mm props are Graupners shallow pitch 3 blade plastic props? If not you could be pulling a fair few amps through each motor, also, have you suppressed the motors?

These are the usual cheap and cheerful 540 motors used by many folk but, as UBN says, that 40mm prop size might be too much for them unless they are fine pitch plastic ones. You will need the full three-capacitor suppressor set on these motors. Component Shop do such a kit for a quid per motor. BTW you will have no problems with these motors and P94 on 7.2v.

Put qty 2 104 capacitors on motors still no change.
Unable to find the 3 set of capacitors on component shop.

I couldn't find them on component shop, either. 
If fitting a capacitor across each of the motor terminals has not cured the problem, then either the motors are generating too much interference or just not responding properly. 
Other ways to combat interference are feeding the motors through twisted pairs (feed wires twisted round each other, like some types of flex) and using ferrite rings with the motor wires threaded through several times.  But generally, this is clutching at straws.
If the Jumbo 540 is not as ordinary as Inertia thinks (there may have been many versions) it might be drawing more current than is good for it until speed builds up.

Many thanks for the info, the boat came to me about twenty odd years ago secondhand so I have never seen the instructions. They make very good reading especially the colours that were used.
I think I will take the jumbo 540,s out and put in the 480's, Cornwall models are out of stock of the 550's.
