It's going to take some serious surgery. The deck is going to have to come off at some point around the hull.

Are you sure you want to proceed ?  Can you show some pictures of close up to the edges and particularly any opening sections for inserting batteries. This might enable you to see what is connected to what down inside her.

Cheers

Ken

It will be serious digging, but there appears to be 4 black marks on the top deck, each side of the first and last funnels if its this one - http://rcscalemodelstore.com/ships-and-boats/rc-titanic-1325-scale-ship/ .  Since the designers of the original thoughtfully put an overlap the length of the superstructure just above main deck level, this forms a natural break for the superstructure to separate.  With a bit of luck and a following wind, that might be the way in without actually digging the deck out.  The black marks might be bungs over screw heads.

Thank you both.
To force her open will as you say seriously damage the deck/hull so thats a no no.
Reason I asked on here was the grape vine indicated they where screws under deck fitting but we cannot find or see them.
Checked if the aerial could be seen but again we cannot see it.
Will just have to sail her close to shore.

Hi Brum,
Just going from the photos from Malcolms link, the upper deck which carries the funnel houses etc, is definitely screwed down.
There are screws, one each side of the rear funnel. one each side of the forward funnel, and probably 2 inside the battery box.
Probably has a seal gasket around the edge as well, but shouldn't be glued down.
Best of luck
cheers

Hull and deck seem to be sealed with the Yellow "Trim tape" around the outside. There also seems to be two screw threads in the posts seen on the photo showing the motors. Could be up to a dozen (12) screws hidden under deck fittings.

A long way down the page in the link it shows the motor compartment, where there are two upstands to take screws.  The picture doesn't give any clues as to where in the hull they are, but at a guess, under the battery compartment which, again is probably under the hatch between funnels 2 and 3.  Looking at the different shades of white, I feel that the superstructure should come out without the deck.
Of course, there could be plenty of screws hiding under deck fittings like bollards and cranes and there might well be a join hiding under the "pinstripe", but looking at the forecastle, that bit of deck appears to be held down by moulded tabs.

Hi, have you considered cutting the hull at the waterline?
When cut, you'll need to build a coaming inside the hull and a few locating "pegs" to get the top part to fit correctly.
As far as the aerial is concerned...it can be run around the inside of the lower part of the hull close to the waterline without losing the signal.
I used this method on my "Norseman" model without any operating problems. Try it? BY.
