I know several people who have tried this but the council are not interested, but I wish you good luck! I know a few people who might be interested and will give them the info.

Hi all don't knock it until to know.. I have been in contact with the council and as part of a regeneration of the water gardens and there  bid to secure lottery funding they are holding an event in September to show case what they would like to do.. and part of this is to reopen part of the water gardens for model boats. I have been asked to put on a small display of boats on this day 5 to 10 people only no fast electric or IC /steam at this stage. Now I'm new to boating so if anyone is interested in help me and my son get the water reopend plus start a club please get in touch. the council will cover us for the day on liability insurance.. Thank Nigel

I'd be inclined to question "Why no steam"? at this stage rather than have to start fighting at a later one. Remember what happened further North?

The reason no steam or ic at the moment is because this is just an event for planning to show to the public what could be done with the regeneration of the water gardens and insurance will not cover it for this day, now if the council allow the water to be used then who knows what will be allowed its all in the planning stages.. steam will more than likey be ok with boiler certificates if we get the go ahead and a club created as we will have our own liability insurance..this is not my rule for this day its what the council ask.. Thanks
