Not up on ducks
The mtroniks ESCs are known to stop before the
stick gets to the end of its travel.
According to Mtroniks they can't do anything about it as the
ESC does not have enough memory to programme
the problem out.
Their new ones are supposed to address the problem.

Hi Gordon.
RE:speed controller had bother with a ripmax sea rover which has a heat sink as it would cut the motor at high speed then ease off and away it would go again.  May be if you friend tried to re- set the speed controller set up as centre the stick and trim lever switch on speed controller press button to set and take the stick full forward neutral full reverse then back to neutral then see if it makes any difference.

We've had similar problems with Mtronics ESC when used with budget 2.4 systems on bait boat repairs but use the same ESC with a 'normal' 27 or 40 meg system no issues at all...

The ESC needs to be calibrated to work with the particular transmitter.Put the mtronics into program mode with the stick at neutral.  Move the stick to full forward, let it figure that, move the stick to full reverse, let it figure that, when the stick is back at centre, everything should work properly, but only on that transmitter.  Any other transmitter is likely to be a little bit different and the ESC will need recalibrating to work properly with it.

I agree with Malcolm on the programmable esc's but I have the problem on a 15A plug and play.
Forward is ok but full back on the stick and the motor cuts.

This is from the Mtroniks website.Q, Throttle goes dead at the end of the stick travel after I set the controller to my transmitter?A, This is due to the output range of the transmitter going beyond the range that the Viper will recognise. The solution is to set the E.P.A. (end point adjustment) to 70% on the throttle channel and then reset the speed controller. This situation is similar to a rudder which travels too far, you reduce the E.P.A. to 'tune' things to work over a suitable range. If your transmitter does not have adjustable E.P.A. please contact Mtroniks.
What are we doing about this? (Honest answer!) - The new 'tio' range of marine controllers adjusts this range automatically, we can't do this with the Viper controllers due to limitations in the processor memory.

the esc is a plug and play  15 amps will just have to play with it
