hi guy
can i remind you why you put a cage around your yellow sub & if you remember i took the step of banning my offspring from further sailing as i did not want any incidents.
and as you say the committee member in question should have known the rules regarding where to sail but chose not to good example to the rest of you members, anyway its all sorted out now and i will remind him of it each time i see him in a light hearted way.
as for mentioning it on this forum as i am not a member of your club anymore i did not have a forum to vent my spleen on other than this.
and if some of you think that i should not be proud of scharnhorst and like to see "him" on the board get over it .
cheers

yup i did put a cage round my sub,  just like the prototype... and yes this was a result of a boat strike.... but if you sail subs then thats a risk you take...

and you are correct you are no longer a member of the club, but as its 'free' water, anyone can sail so long as they abide by the local byelaws.... so the club members who chose to run club 500's are entitled to run their boats also...... one thing we should all accept is from time to time accidents happen........most do their upmost to avoid 'em, but it happens....

anyway glad to hear you sorted it out..... model boating is supposed to be fun and pleasurable !

Bryan, I always thought a peon was a Mexican peasant! I hope you aren't suggesting something improper.
"xxxxx", I got the spelling wrong.
But after all the hoo-ha I will admit that I went a tad "over the top" (incensed by continuous digs by Bluetit).
I am NOT being sarcastic, nor am I being in any way derogatory to the guy. I now believe that the boat has been re-engined and "tweaked" from its original form. That is what I want to know about. I am not in the least interested in the "paint job"...good as it may well be.
Perhaps I phrase things incorrectly, but I AM interested in other modellers efforts and results of their labours.
I am, as you will have gathered, more interested in scale ships than any of the other aspects of "the hobby"; which is possibly a reason why I question so much of what I consider to be "non-ships". It is,after all a "forum" where varied points of view can be aired.
I believe it was Voltaire who said....but you know that one.
After my yesterdays little rant I really did think that Bluefinch had got to me too much and that my response could get me chucked out of this electronic dialogue...and if it had I would have said "sod it". But I am still here and willing to put my spoke in when I think fit. BY

as you say any one can sail as long as they abide by the local byelaws , those same byelaws that i proposed & the committee agreed to.
that is all any one can ask for,if the committee are not going to sail by the rules what chance does anybody else have.

So if you aren't being sarcastic why do you continually called Bluebird, Bluetit/Bluefinch. Trying to get a rise are we.

Guy / Gary  I think the main point was that fast electric was being sailed amongst scale/ slower boats

which means you get off the water or take your chance not how it should be and provision was taken at the club to rectify this from before. best this is sorted at the lake not on here.

then we can get back to enjoying our sailing

no gary, the club do not set byelaws.... we made a revised club constitution..... byelaws are set by the council.....

MCAT, i agree with the enjoying our sailing bit totally, but as we have pointed out before the lake is not exclusively ours !- its a public park and a public lake... anyone can turn up and sail their model ( so long as its not IC )  - the club discussed this point again and again....

so there is always the risk of some novice sailing a fast boat alongside the scale / slower models..... we will never get away from that.....

the club members took it upon themselves to try and alleviate this by  distancing themselves when running faster boats.... but if a non club members arrives and sails , then we have no legal right to force them to sail away from other models......
however a size 12 boot up the rear may be an option ;D
