in 1979, i was at the naviga world endurance championships that were held at Thorpe park. My father volunteered both of us to stay in the control centre every night to look after the equipment. We got talking to the site caretaker there one night & he took us to a huge hanger ( the park was still under construction at the time).
Inside the hanger were many interesting things, a supermarine sea plane, a Wessex helicopter, a scarrab power boat & 1 36 foot diesel electric powered, radio controlled Queen Mary. The plan was to use it in the model of new york they were planning to build.
Although the model city got built, I don't think they used the ship in it.
years ago I wrote to Thorpe park to enquire what became of it , but never received a reply. was certainly the largest RC model i ever seen.
Cheers Glenn
