Via email to Mayhem...

I have an Arun 52 and it has operational number 13-13 is this just a made up number on the side of my boat or was it an actual number used on an Arun ?

13 relates to a fictitious class of lifeboat.......none were designated with the prefix 13.........nearest was 12-00 which were the Mersey class boat.

The new Shannon class boat numbers start 13-.

The first  is 13-01 "RNLB Jock and Annie Slater" for the relief fleet and the second, 13-02 "RNLB The Morrell" will be Dungeness Lifeboat

According to the rnli motor lifeboat book(nicholas leach)there are 46 boats, when you decide to make a certain boat, then just ask as there are many of us that can help out Eg: 52-43  The Queen Mother (Thurso lifeboat)
