Possible Plans
« on: November 17, 2013, 07:37:38 pm »

Hi all,
I do a lot of Google Sketchuping and have started on a Nordhavn 62 ( http://www.nordhavn.com/models/62/ ). I have drawn the 'ribs' and was thinking they would be useful to modellers. I have ignored the bulbous bow, they could be used for a fishing boat. Would it be possible to make a hull from these? If anyone wants them I could put them into word and send them. Let me know if you're interested.
Many Thanks Reece

Good morning "me3".
I'm just getting to grips with SketchUp (relying heavily on "The Missing Manual"), and it's my intention to eventually "build" a complete 3D model of (possibly) "Bluebird of Chelsea".
You say that you can download into "Word". When that's done would the 3D model still be 3D or 2D. If 3D would the ability to orbit the model still be available? Or could that only be done if the original is sent to someone who has SketchUp already on computer?
I'm only up to page 180 of the manual...so still an awful lot to learn!. Cheers BY.

some CAD type programs can export to a 3D rotateable pdf file.

Grendel....that's nice to know, but learning one system at a time is more than enough for my waning brain cells to comprehend!. Cheers. Bryan

Hello,

I know, it took me about a year to get the hang of it. I couldn't find any 'manual' so I taught myself. I don't usually make plans, I will keep going with this one to make a full 3D versions of the Nordhavn. It will have everything the real boat does, interior, engine, Ect. I have just started this one and thought they made a nice hull shape.  If they are put into word they will be 2D, the orbit feature is not existent. I meant that I could put each rib onto a word page so they could be printed. The only way to send a complete 3D model is to send it in google sketchup format. That can be done by email or saved to the 3D warehouse where the model can be downloaded.
Cheers Reece
