It's certainly clever/novel and would be good to watch at a show in a pool maybe. I personally wouldn't trust it in my boats though, 2.4 will do for me  O0

Would be intresting to see how long it would last as well as these type of apps tend to heavily use battery life..Or at least they do on my phone..

According to their website ( http://www.wirc.dension.com ) it works with iPhone, iPod, and iPad.

Don't joke, Ken.  %)

I'm a keen fan of astronomy. Which is a bit of a joke given the mass of sodium-light-filled sky above my house. But serious amateurs these days no longer put eye-to-scope and track stars manually: they use GPS computer-controlled mounts, ccd cameras, take a bazillion pictures, stack them, keep the best, and apply sharpening routines. Usually this is done from a laptop in a warm shed next to the automatic observatory before they bung images online. They never look through the eyepiece.

This "operate at a distance", using a pile of technology, seems to be the way most hobbies are going.

The wirc system is OK and works well for what it is..... which is a gimmick, however it is no match for a quality RC system as it lacks any precision control.
For the price it is you can buy a half decent proper RC system

The wi-fi transmitters on phone's have dismal range compared with decent hobby grade R/C. It's fine for a little model that you would keep in close range, but for anything else, give it a miss.
